Quantity Calculation
Calculate Bulkgood Price by Qty controls whether product-level shipping prices are multiplied by item quantity.
When enabled
A product with a freight price of 32.00 and quantity 4 contributes 128.00. This applies to:
- matching Bulkgood Price / Product & Country values;
- Bulkgood Price / Product values.
After multiplication, the calculation method combines all values from the selected source.
When disabled
The same product contributes 32.00 regardless of whether the cart contains one or four units. This can represent one handling charge per product line, but it is not automatically one charge per shipment or pallet.
What the setting does not change
- It does not multiply the price returned by the Table Rate source.
- It does not calculate pallet count, package count, dimensions or cubic volume.
- It does not change the condition value used by Magento's Table Rates lookup.
If the Table Rates source should increase with cart quantity, select Number of Items vs. Destination as Magento's Table Rates condition and create the required quantity thresholds in the CSV.
Country tier interaction
When the active condition is item quantity, a country-specific product tier is selected using the quantity of that individual quote item. If quantity calculation is also enabled, the selected tier price is then multiplied by that same quantity.
Example:
- tier from 1 unit: 8.00;
- tier from 5 units: 6.00;
- cart quantity: 6;
- selected unit value: 6.00;
- contributing value with quantity enabled: 36.00.
Test the thresholds immediately below, at and above each boundary before using them in production.
