Bulkgood Shipping FAQ
What makes a product a bulkgood?
Set the product's Bulkgood attribute to Yes in the relevant website scope. A category assignment does not activate Bulkgood shipping.
What happens when one bulk product is in a mixed cart?
The whole cart uses the Table Rates lookup for Bulkgood = 1. The extension does not calculate an ordinary parcel row separately and add it to a bulk row.
Can I use a product price without importing a bulk Table Rates row?
No. Magento must first find a matching Bulkgood = 1 row for the destination and active condition. The extension can then replace that row's price with the selected product calculation.
Does priority fall back separately for every product?
No. Priority is resolved at cart level. The first source with at least one usable value wins. Lower sources do not fill missing products.
What do the calculation methods combine?
They combine the available values from the selected country-specific or general product source. They do not combine values from different sources and do not alter a Table Rates price.
Does Calculate Bulkgood Price by Qty affect Table Rates?
No. It multiplies country-specific and general product prices by each item's quantity. Table Rates conditions and prices continue to follow Magento's standard cart-level behavior.
Can country prices have tiers?
Yes. Add several rows for one country with different Condition Value and Above thresholds. The active Table Rates condition determines whether the threshold represents item weight, discounted item value or item quantity.
Which country tier wins?
The highest threshold less than or equal to the item's condition value wins. Add a threshold of zero when the country needs a base tier.
Can Bulkgood calculate dimensional weight or cubic volume?
No. It does not read length, width or height and does not calculate cubic volume. You can use a prepared shipping weight, product price, country price or Magento Table Rates condition.
Does it connect to freight carrier APIs?
No. It extends stored Magento Table Rates and product attributes. It does not request live rates, labels or tracking from a carrier.
Are Table Rates files configured per store view?
Magento's Table Rates import and export is website-scoped. Bulkgood configuration fields may inherit or be overridden at other scopes, but the rate dataset belongs to the website.
Where are diagnostic entries written?
They use Magento's standard logger and normally appear in var/log/system.log. The extension does not create var/log/bulkgood.log.
Should the CSV contain ordinary rows too?
Yes, if the website must serve ordinary-only carts. Include Bulkgood = 0 and Bulkgood = 1 rows in the complete imported file.
What should I test before launch?
Test ordinary-only, bulk-only and mixed carts; every supported destination; threshold boundaries; multiple bulk products; quantities above one; and each website that has its own rate matrix.
